Editors Pick - Dagmar Vyhnalkova / Heart on Fire
I have been spending the past few days, going through the various 30 under 30 lists that pop up. There is some great work to be viewed. One photographer that caught my eye was this photographer, Dagmar Vyhnalkova.
"This series of photographs captures the emotional side of a relationship where both individuals are longing for freedom. Not a freedom in the physical sense, rather a freedom of the spirit. Beauty blends with hopelessness, the desire to escape collides with the inability to communicate and act. As if both the individuals were controlled by powers, which they are not able to conquer. Driven by desire they helplessly remain at the same place."

'Back and Forth'
This is a sound clip that I recorded and edited. I have cut recordings of speech from two separate people to make them appear to be in conversation with each other or relate in some way. This piece experiments with language and communication. I chose this recording as the subjects reflect very personally on topics of art and philosophy, their ideas speak to me in some way.

'Man on Bus'
I recorded a man on the phone near me on a public bus. I have been interested in recording conversations between people in public spaces. This is inspired by a piece by artist Beatrice Gibson, ‘The Future’s Getting Old Like The Rest Of Us’, part documentary part fictional recording of people in a care home. Although they are different conversations the editing gives the effect of the subjects conversing. I am interested in experimenting with the visual image sound can create.

2nd experimentation with night lights.
I intend on converting this into a large scale projection in a dark space to play around with the effect of scale.
